1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile application WW3 Index (the "App"), developed and operated by Andrea Baro ("we", "us", "our"), processes information when you use the App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to processing your data lawfully, fairly and transparently, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR — Regulation EU 2016/679) and the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (D.lgs. 196/2003 as amended).

2. Information we do NOT collect

WW3 Index is designed to be privacy-friendly. We do not require any account, login or registration. We do not collect, store or process:

Your name, email, phone number, or any direct identifier;
Your precise location (GPS);
Your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, files, or any other on-device content;
Any browsing or search history outside of the App itself.

3. Information automatically processed

When you use the App, the following limited information may be automatically processed:

App usage analytics (anonymous): when you open the App, the backend receives standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp). This is used only to operate and secure the service and is not associated with any user identity.
Advertising identifiers: as detailed in section 5 below, our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may access your device's resettable advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / Apple IDFA) in order to serve ads. You can reset or limit this identifier at any time in your device settings.

4. Push notifications (optional, opt-in)

WW3 Index can send you one optional daily push notification at approximately 09:00 (your local time zone) containing the day's tension reading and a short emotional summary. This feature is strictly opt-in: on first launch (Android 13+ devices) the operating system asks for your explicit permission, and you may decline or revoke it at any time from Android Settings → Apps → WW3 Index → Notifications.

To deliver the notification we process the following minimal information:

Anonymous device push token — a randomly generated string assigned by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for the sole purpose of routing a notification to your device. The token is not linked to your name, email or any account.
Platform identifier ("android") — needed to format the notification correctly.

The token is stored only for as long as you keep the App installed and notifications enabled. Uninstalling the App, denying the notification permission, or resetting your device invalidates the token automatically. We do not use the token for advertising, profiling or analytics.

The token is transmitted to and processed by our managed push notification relay SuprSend (via Emergent) for the sole purpose of delivering the daily notification. SuprSend's privacy policy: https://www.suprsend.com/privacy-policy. The token is also processed by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for actual delivery to your device.

5. Third-party services we use

The App relies on the following external services. Each of them processes data under its own privacy policy, which we link below.

Alpha Vantage — market data API (VIX, oil, S&P 500, USD index). Privacy policy: https://www.alphavantage.co/privacy/. No personal data of the user is sent to Alpha Vantage; only ticker symbols are queried by our backend.
Google News RSS — geopolitical headlines aggregator. Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. No personal data of the user is sent; only generic search terms are queried by our backend.
Google AdMob — see section 5 below.

5. Advertising — Google AdMob

The App is free of charge and supported by advertising provided by Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Limited. AdMob displays banner advertisements inside the App.

For users located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the App is configured by default to request non-personalized advertising only. Non-personalized ads do not rely on profiling but may still use limited information such as: the approximate (country-level) location derived from the IP address, the device language, the device type, generic context of the App, the time of the request, and a resettable advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / IDFA) used for frequency capping and to detect invalid traffic.

Where required by law, an in-app consent dialog (Google's Consent Management Platform, "UMP") will be displayed before any tracking-based advertising is delivered, in which case you can choose to consent or to continue with non-personalized ads only.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

On Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID (or "Opt out of Ads Personalization").
On iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → Personalized Ads OFF.

6. Legal basis for processing

We process the limited information described above on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:

Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to operate, secure and improve the App and to display non-personalized advertising, which is necessary to make the App available free of charge.
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — where personalized advertising is enabled, it is based on your explicit consent collected through the in-app consent dialog. You may withdraw consent at any time.

7. Data retention

We do not store any personal data of the user on our servers. The historical index data displayed in the App is anonymous market data and contains no information about you. Advertising identifiers are processed by Google AdMob according to its own retention policies.

8. International data transfers

Some of the third-party services (Google AdMob, Alpha Vantage, Google News) are operated by entities established outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, transfers are protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or by adequacy decisions, as applicable.

9. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15);
Request rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16);
Request erasure of your personal data (Art. 17);
Restrict or object to processing (Art. 18, 21);
Data portability (Art. 20);
Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing;
Lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority — Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (www.garanteprivacy.it).

Since we do not collect personal data directly, rights requests against the App itself are typically not applicable. For matters concerning advertising data, please refer to Google's privacy policy and to the opt-out controls listed in section 5.

10. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, please contact us so we can investigate.

11. Disclaimer

The WW3 Index is a proprietary indicator of geopolitical tension provided for informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute investment, financial, legal or medical advice. The author makes no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of the information displayed. Use of the App is at your own risk.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the App and on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
